Fees and Permits- Upper Mustang Jeep Tour 

Upper Mustang is well marked by official Mustang border signs just north of Kagbeni where police and ACAP checks permit for non-Nepalese seeking to enter the region and at Gyu La (pass) east of Kagbeni. Trekking permits for Mustang costs US $ 500 per person for 10 days. Note that it is defined as 10 days, not nights, starting and ending at Kagbeni. Extra days are charged the extra US $ 50 per day.

In order to obtain the permit, you need to have at least two members in a group. That means a single permit won’t be allowed by the immigrants. If you are a single traveler, let us know, we can provide permits by joining you with other travelers groups. We need your original passport copy to obtain the restricted area permits.

Detailed itinerary of Upper Mustang Jeep Tour 

Day 1: Arrival at Tribhuvan International airport, Kathmandu

One of our representatives from the Vivaan Adventure Pvt Ltd company will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel after arriving in Kathmandu. You will have the rest of the day to explore Kathmandu.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and trekking preparation

You will have the chance to explore the city. You can shop trekking gears if needed. You can see Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, and so on in the city. You will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara by Driver

The drive will be 6 hours to reach Pokhara and you have to travel around 200 km. After breakfast at the hotel, you will pick up from the hotel and start driving to Pokhara. En route, we will see more of the countryside of Nepal that offers greeneries, rivers, villages, farms, and beautiful mountain sceneries. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, the five peaks of Annapurna, and others. Pokhara is a city of lakes and has numerous beautiful lakes. We can explore the most accessible and beautiful, Fewa Lake during the late afternoon -enjoy boating too.

Day 4: Drive Pokhara to Beni and to Tatopani(2600 m)

Today, the drive will be for 6-7 hours. A road till Beni is in good condition with the black toped but after Beni, there is off-road. You can experience a hot spring in Tatopani. You have to travel around 110 km to reach Tatopani.

Day 5: Drive from Tatopani to Kagbeni (2900m)  

Today, the drive will be of 5-6 hours traveling around 95 km to reach Kagbeni. You will drive through the local villages of Kalopani, Ghasa and explore the apple farming of Marpha Village and Jomsom local market. Then you will cross Kagbeni village and visit the holy temple Muktinath and 108 taps dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Also, you will visit Jal Devi where you can see the fire lighting itself (Natural gas). You can see the view of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche Peak from Jharkot.

Day 6: Drive to Ghami Village (3520m) via Syangboche Pass(4200 m)

You can visit Kagbeni Monastery and Buddhist school in the morning before breakfast and then after breakfast, all the required permits of Upper Mustang are checked and made available.  From here your journey to Upper Mustang starts. At first, you will cross the Kaligandaki river near Chhusang village by Jeep and climb up to Chella Village, Samar Village, Syangboche village, Ghiling and arrive at Ghami village. You will also see the local farmer houses with Yak and houses caravan, Tibetan culture, and local activities. Today, you will travel around 35km by 6 hours Jeep drive.

Day 7: Drive to Lo-Manthang (3840m)

After Breakfast,  you will visit the monastery of Mustang Lo Gager Ghar Gompa which is a very important monastery in Mustang, you can also visit Charang monastery,  Lo-Manthang city, “Jampa Gompa” the oldest monastery, built in the early 15th century and also known as the “God house”, “Thubchen Gompa” a huge, red assembly hall and gompa built in the late 15th century, “Chodey Gompa”, now the main city gompa and  Monastic Museum. Also, you will observe domestic Yaks and cattle caravans, Wonder mountain views and landscape from the passes, Buddhist school, arts, king palace, and local activities in Lo-Manthang. You have to travel for 3 hours crossing around 17 km.

Day 8: Exploring Lo-Manthang and Chhosar

After breakfast, you will explore Namgyal Gompa, the sky caves of Chhosar, and the Shija Jhong cave of Mustang taking back over 3,000 years that have been subject to excavation for archaeologists from around the world. There are other several caves near Chhosar that have been used for burial, meditation, and also for living. After finishing the sightseeing of local areas you will be driven back to the guesthouse by jeep.

Day 9: Drive back to Jomsom (2743 m)

Today, you will travel around 50 km for a 6-7 hours Jeep ride.  You will drive all the way to Jomsom Crossing several local villages, the Kaligandaki river, Buddhist stupas, and monasteries on the way. In the evening you will have time to explore the local market of Jomsom.

Day 10: Jomsom to Pokhara Driver

Today after early breakfast in the hotel, we will drive back to Pokhara via the same route. The total driver period will be approx 12 hours to reach Pokhara. Enjoy the beautiful evening in Pokhara.

Day 11: Drive Back to Kathmandu

Today, the last day of the trip. You depart to Kathmandu from Pokhara. The ride to Kathmandu will take 6 hours. The remaining time a day you can relax in the luxury hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 12: Departure Day 

This is the day of farewell to Nepal. Our representative from the Vivaan Adventure Pvt Ltd will pick you from the hotel and take you to the airport.
