Kathmandu to Australian Camp Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Drive towards Pokhara from Kathmandu which is 7 hours drive and 200 KM in distance. Explore the lakeside area in the evening and spend a night in Pokhara.
Day 2: Drive from Pokhara to Kande and hike to Australian Camp.
We will have our lunch in Pokhara and drive towards Kande which is approx 30 KM in distance and it takes approx 1 hour to reach. Once we reach Kande, we will hike towards Australian Camp which is another 2 hours hike. You will pass through paddy fields, forest, and suspension bridge before reaching the Australian Base Camp.
Enjoy the night in the lap of nature with fun and relaxation.
Day 3: Australian Camp to Dhampus and Drive back to Pokhara.
We will have breakfast in the hotel enjoy the sunshine along with the mountain view. Once breakfast is over, spend some time exploring the surroundings and enjoying nature.
We will trek down to Dhampus Village and have our lunch in Dhampus. Spend some time to enjoy the beauty of Dhampus and hike downhill all the way to Phedi which takes approx 2 hours to reach.
From the highway, we will take a jeep and drive back to Pokhara. Spend a night in Pokhara.
Day 4: Drive back to Kathmandu
We will explore Pokhara city and drive back to Kathmandu for another 7 hours. In this way, your Australian Camp trek ends here.
Australian Camp to Landruk
Australian Camp to Landruk is one day hike if you are going for Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, Mohare Danda Trek, or Poonhill Ghandruk trek. You need to hike slightly uphill for a couple of hours and then hike downhill towards Landruk village. Landruk village is one of the popular Gurung settlements located just opposite Ghandruk Village.
You can see the magnificent view of Mt Annapurna, Mt Machhapuchhre from Landruk. Australian Camp to Landruk hike takes approx 5 hours to reach. Either you can make Australian Camp on your first day or on the last day of your itinerary.
Australian Camp to Dhampus Trek
Australian Camp to Dhampus Trek is 1 hours trek. Dhampus Trek to Australian Camp trek is an uphill trek that goes through the forest and stepped hiking trail. Dhampus village can be accessed by a motorable road and to reach Australian Base Camp, you need to hike. There is no other alternative besides hiking to reach this hill station.
Dhampus Villag to Australian Camp trek is divided in the middle of the jungle where you can go to Pothana all the way to Landruk or Forest Camp which is part of Mardia Himal. If you hike from the junction towards Pothana, you can reach within 30 minutes hike and approx 3.5 hours to reach Landruk.
Australian Base Camp Weather
Australian Base Camp is a hill point and there won’t be obstructed for sun so most of the days remain to warn. And the night remains chill and cold. Cold wind from the northern Himalayas makes cold in Australian Base Camp.

The hiking trail from Dhampus to Australian Camp is managed and maintained well. The stone-paved old trekking trail makes you walk with ease. You will be passing via a beautiful forest of Rhododendron before reaching the Camp. Chipping of birds, mountain view, and valley view are some of the things you can enjoy during this 1-hour walk.

To reach Australian Base Camp, there are two major routes to reach. One and the popular hiking route is from Dhampus Village and the other is from Kande. From Kande, you need to hike approx 2 hours to reach Australian Camp and from Dhampus Village, you need to hike lesser which takes approx 1 hour.
Reaching Australian Camp via Dhampus Village: Reaching Australian Camp vis Dhampus Village is the most popular trekking route. You need to drive approx 1 hour to reach Dhampus Village from Pokhara and then hike towards the Camp from the village. The trail goes through Rhododendron forest before reaching Australian Camp.
Reaching Australian Camp via Kande: Hiking to Australian Base Camp from Kande is a less popular hiking trail compared to Dhampus village. Kande to Australian Base Camp trek takes approx 2 hours to reach. You need to hike downwards first and upwards towards before reaching Australian Camp.
