ACAP Permit refers to an entry paper of Annapurna Conservation Area Permit. ACAP permit is required for Annapurna Area trekking. Established in 1986, it is expended its area to 7629 Sq. KM. You can find 518 birds, 23 amphibians, 1226 species of flowers along with 105 Mammals. Annapurna Conversation Area (ACAP) is regulated and protected by NTNC. There are approx. 1200 + household in this area with a number of 10000 + residence.

What is ACAP Permit?
ACAP permit refers to Annapurna Conservation Area Permit which is required for the trekkers trekking in Annapurna Region. You need to purchase this permit in an advance to the trekking.
There are several ACAM check posts in the trekking route where you need to display it. If you are failed to display this ACAP Permit then you will get penalty by the ACAP staff. Keep this document safe with you during this trek.
National Park staff, Police, Conversation staffs are the authorized ones who are assigned to check this document.
Where can I Get ACAP Permit in Kathmandu?
If you are in Kathmandu then the official point to get the ACAP permit is visiting the Nepal Tourism Board office. The office is open from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM from Sunday to Friday. Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is located in Bhrikuti Mandap, Exhibition road. You can reach there in 3 main ways:
Walking: Nepal Tourism Board is located on Exhibition road so you can reach there by 25 min walk from Thamel. Thamel is the touristic hub for all travelers.
Public Bus: You can find a public bus to the Bhrikuti Mandap from Lainchaur, which is the nearest bus station. It cost NPR 15 per person one way for the bus ride.
Taxi: Hire a car to get an ACAP permit to the Exhibition road. Taxi cost NPR 200-300 for a one-way ride. Which is an expensive way to get the permit.
How much does the ACAP Permit Cost?
ACAP Permit cost NPR 3000 or US $ 30 per person. You can choose either option for the payment. We suggest you pay in NPR so that you will get benefited. The counter staff might ask for you for US $ 30 but advise him/her to pay in NPR Genteelly. And for the SAARC national, it cost NPR 1000 per person. Child below 10 years goes free.

Documents required to get ACAP Permit?
You need a copy of the passport size picture and other personal details or fill in the form to get the ACAP Permit. Here are some of the major details you need to provide in the form to get the ACAP permit in the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu.

- Home Location
- Contact address in Nepal (can be Hotel, Travel Agency, Friends or any)
- Name of the Trek
- Trek Entry Point
- Trek End Point
- No of Days
- Name of the Trekking Agency – Optional
- Guide Name – Optional
Once you fill all these details then submit it to the ACAP counter. They will verify your details and issue the permit.
This is a work of only 15 min if everything goes ok. There used to be a queue of trekkers in a season’s time which might delay your time.
